Happy 120th, Vogue!

Vogue has been a staple in my literary diet for as long as I can remember and Anna Wintour, always been a household name.  With Vogue's celebration of its 120th Anniversary, AW chose a few of her favorite images from the publication's history.  Of those elections, this one speaks to me the most -- it is Anna Wintour's first Vogue cover.  November 1988, Michela Bercu wearing a Christian Lacroix sweater true to the 80's baroque aesthetic and acid-wash Guess jeans -  a perfect combination of high/low fashion. Arguably, the beginning of an era..
Ever felt nostalgic for a time that wasn't yours?

"It was so unlike the studied and elegant close-ups that were typical of Vogue’s covers back then, with tons of makeup and major jewelry. This one broke all the rules. Michaela wasn’t looking at you, and worse, she had her eyes almost closed. Her hair was blowing across her face. It looked easy, casual, a moment that had been snapped on the street, which it had been, and which was the whole point. Afterwards, in the way that these things can happen, people applied all sorts of interpretations: It was about mixing high and low, Michaela was pregnant, it was a religious statement. But none of these things was true. I had just looked at that picture and sensed the winds of change. And you can’t ask for more from a cover image than that."

ADR: 10 TOP Rules for Accessorizing

Last week the queen of accessories/Vogue Japan's Editor at Large,  Anna Dello Russo, shared her top 10 rules for accessorizing. While most of our lifestyles don't lend themselves for the outrageous fashions pulled by ADR -- making her worthy of the "fashion maniac" title she's earned -- this girl knows a thing or two about a thing or two.  So, don't be shy to adapt these tips to your look!

"Here my top 10 Rules:
1. ACCESSORIZE ME, Color me, Shock me!
2. Choose only OFF-scale, HUGE,
OVER-size, accessories.
3. Flashy jewels personalize your STYLE!
4. Amazing accessories ‘ll renew
your ASLEEP closet:
Your old, so beloved, little black dress
‘ll be reawakened by the impact of
a chunky GOLDEN necklace.
5. Don’t want to give up your old
consumed, shabby black coat?
At least shake it with a THIGH-HIGH
leather boots and a MASSIVE METAL clutch.
6. Bijoux are SEASONLESS!
Contrary during the heavy, rainy, graying,
boring winter, wear TURQUOISE
CORAL and GOLD,
and the sun ‘ll rise again.
7. The BLING-BLING of jewelry drive away
the ghosts and the bad thoughts.
8. Put bracelets in pairs:
the simmetry of the TWINS-CUFFS
emphasizes your Silhouette.
9. Wear the evening-jewels in daytime.
It’s UNEXPECTED!
10. And then, if you have to travel,
store all your accessories in a turquoise TROLLEY
decorated by gold baroque frames.
Make SHINE the airport against the
anonymity of all those gray suitcases.

There are few things I ♥ more than a great pair of heels..

...and here are FOUR great pairs by Kurt Geiger. ;)

HAPPY MONDAY!

"The Breakup"

Pictured: chicmuse in 3.1 Phillip Lim Pre-Fall/12  "The Breakup" sweater and pants

I've always thought fashion and art go hand in hand, but Phillip Lim's Pre-Fall collection is taking the notion to another level by incorporating Roy Lichtenstein's pop art onto his pieces. #OBSESSED
 Great idea, Phill!!

Color Revolution

Westward Leaning - a young, San Francisco based sunglass company with an environmental and social conscience - is doing the colored-lense trend right.  The retro-inspired sunnies are available in a fun array of hues and will run you $165 per pair.  Take some outfit inspiration from Vogue's Valerie Boster and pair them with a bright bikini and a Columbian "mochila" for an unmistakably chic beach bum look.
